Only Karnataka government should decide on appeal: GK Vasan

Vasan said that party’s stand always was that any court order should not be politicised

Kumbakonam: Only the Karnataka Government should decide whether or not to appeal against the HC judgment acquitting AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa and three others from the assets case, said G.K.Vasan, president of Tamil Maanila Congress on Wednesday.

He told DC that in any case if the parties concerned were not satisfied with an order, they can always go on appeal. His party’s stand always was that any court order should not be politicised. “Political alliances are not decided on issues like a court order” he said.

Mr Vasan said his party also supported the request of the relatives of 20 Tamil workers killed in the Seshachalam forest in Andhra Pradesh recently that '25 lakh should be paid as compensation to each victim’s family and one person from each family should be given a job. He called for a ban on import of palm oil. This should be done so that local farmers who cultivated oil seeds could get a good income.
