Bikaner girl injured after being hit by truck

A teenage girl was injured in Bikaner on Wednesday when a truck hit her scooty in Gopeshwar Basti residential area.

BIKANER: A teenage girl was injured in Bikaner on Wednesday when a truck hit her scooty in Gopeshwar Basti residential area. Despite the ban on entry of heavy vehicle in this residential area, trucks and other heavy vehicle pass through due to police negligence.
Agitated residents protested and blocked the road. Windscreen of the truck was also broken by the people.
A police team was sent to the spot and senior police officers including CO (Sadar) Nasimullah Khan, SHO (JNV) Indra Kumar, SHO (Kotwali) Kalawati rushed to Gopehswar Basti.
Prerna Ranga (20), daughter of municipal councillor Shiv Kumar Ranga, was on her way to the Laxminath temple. The truck being driven rashly, came in front of her and hit the scooty. Prerna fell down and got injured.
She was immediately taken to PBM Hospital. Hearing news of another accident in the area, residents of Gopeshwar Basti and nearby areas started gathering. Many BJP councillors and other political leaders also gathered and demanded a total ban on entry of all heavy vehicles including truck, trolley, bus and tankers.
Later, a six member committee was constituted after dialogues between police and residents, which will monitor entry of heavy vehicle and inform the higher authorities about the negligence if occurred on the part of policemen. CO (Sadar) Nasimullah said that Prerna has been discharged from the hospital after treatment.
It may be mentioned that earlier also due to accident by heavy vehicles, one old lady and one youth died in the same residential area.
