Sindha murder: Accused visited Surat, but cops clueless

SURAT: Divyesh Sikligar, who has been accused of murdering Amit Sidha, visited the city on Friday but he left the next day even as city police teams were hunting for him all over the state. Local police and detection of crime branch teams are looking for the accused, who is on the run ever since he allegedly committed the murder here on May 6.
Divyesh ensured that he stayed out CCTV camera surveillance in the city and also the highways.
He escaped towards Vadodara and has been making calls from mobile phones of strangers. The accused, who was working in a gymnasium as a trainer, has been untraceable ever since Sindha, a syndicate member of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), was found murdered. He was making threat calls to his friend Bhumika Dilkhush, an English language trainer, from Sindha's phone. However, police could not trace him.
Police had earlier tracked his phone calls to Mehsana until Thursday last. "He returned to the city on Friday and left after spending a day. His phone call locations were found to be in the city. Police could not nab him since he was changing his locations frequently," a police source said.
"He dodged the CCTV cameras installed on the highways and in Surat city. He avoided the roads that had CCTV cameras," police sources said. Police teams were camping in Gandhinagar to nab Divyesh. However, they returned to the city when his location was traced to Surat.
Police have formed a few more teams to nab the accused who has been tracked near Vadodara after he left the city on Saturday. Divyesh was in the city to seek help of his friends. He contacted his family members too. They refused to help him so he left early, police suspect.
"Divyesh is yet to be arrested. Police teams are working to nab him," said G R Patel, police inspector, Khatodara police station.
