Reliance Jio has appointed Pradeep Shrivastava as its chief marketing officer, reports ET. Shrivastava will lead the marketing function for Jio. Prior to joining Jio, Shrivastava was the director and chief marketing and commerce officer at XL Axiata, an Indonesian telecom operator.
Shrivastava has 30 years of experience in the telecom, FMCG, advertising, export, franchising & retailing and institutional and durable sales sectors. Before XL Axiata, Shrivastava worked as the CXO of Robi Axiata in Bangladesh, which was an investor in Shrivastava’s previous employer Idea Cellular. At Robi Axiata, he worked on sales, marketing, customer service and enterprise business and business IT.
Shrivastava also worked as the director of operations at Videocon Telecommunications for over a year. At Videocon, Shrivastava was overseeing sales, service and marketing related activities for Videocon’s telecom operations. He was also the CMO of Idea Cellular for over 8.5 years.
Before this, Shrivastava worked as the VP of international business at The Global Green company for about 3 years and as the business head and senior product manager of ice cream at Hindustan Lever (now known as Unilever) for 7 years. He has also served as senior client servicing manager at Lintas for 2 years.
Other changes at Jio:
Late last month, Reliance Jio roped in Anand Narang, former Huawei India devices marketing head, to head the marketing division of the company. Narang will report to former BlackBerry India chief Sunil Dutt who had joined as president of devices business at Reliance Jio mid-2014.
Earlier this year, Jio Infocomm’s president Sumit D Chowdhury stepped down from his position. Chowdhury had joined Reliance Jio Infocom as its Chief Information Officer in September 2012, and after one year had moved up to being the President of the company, where he was responsible for setting up the enterprise business for Jio. He also led the company’s efforts in smart cities, Internet of Things and machine to machine (M2M) communications.
In the same time frame, Sandip Das stepped down as the managing director of Reliance Jio. Das had joined Reliance Jio from Maxis in May 2013. Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani had said in a letter to the Reliance Retail team then that Das would work as a mentor for the Jio division of Reliance Retail.
