HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i men's basketball coach Eran Ganot has announced the signing of guard Bryce Canda to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Rainbow Warriors next season. Canda, a graduate of Grant High School (Portland, Ore.) and transfer from Central Wyoming College, is Ganot's first signee and will have two years of eligibility.
 
"We are very excited to have Bryce on board," said Ganot. "I have enjoyed watching his development over the years and his progress is a true testament to what hard work can do. Bryce comes from great programs and terrific coaching from high school, AAU and most recently at the junior college level. He is of great character, has a strong desire to be successful, and is a great fit."

"My dream has always been to play Division I basketball and now that I have accomplished that, it doesn't stop here," said an excited Canda. "With the help of the great coaching staff at UH, I feel like my teammates and I can achieve our long term goals. Coach Ganot has coached many good players and helped them to the next level, I just want to get my name put on the same list."

Canda (6-4, 195 lbs) joins the 'Bows after a stellar career at Central Wyoming. He was named First-Team All-Region IX this past season after averaging 19.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg and 3.7 apg. Canda elevated his game during conference play, scoring 20.7 ppg while securing 6.4 rpg and shooting 48.9% from the floor and 44.9% from beyond the arc. As a freshman, he broke on the scene as one of the nation's top three-point shooting threats, ranking 20^th in the country in three-point field goal percentage (46.1).
 
Before attending CWC, Canda made his mark on the Portland high school scene. He was a First-Team Oregon All-State selection and four-year team captain, guiding Grant HS to a 22-6 record his senior year. In the summer following his graduation, he connected with the AAU I-5 Elite program where he began to attract interest to play at the next level. Canda would eventually be heavily recruited at CWC by schools from the Big 12, Big East, and West Coast Conferences but chose to become a Rainbow Warrior.
 
"Bryce has great versatility and size which will allow him to play both guard positions," added Ganot. "His ability to shoot, defend, and rebound are all great assets moving forward. We are thrilled to have him in our program and looking forward to being part of his continued development."
