With a score of 621 out of 625, A.G. Rashmi of CFTRI High School in the city is among the State toppers.
She is the daughter of A.G. Gopalakrishna, Chief Scientist, Department of Traditional Food and Sensory Sciences, Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), and H. Sudha, doctor at Aditya Hospital.
Speaking to The Hindu , Dr. Gopalakrishna expressed his happiness over his daughter’s achievements and said she was regular in her academics since her childhood days and there was no pressure on her from either of the parents to study. “Besides studies, Rashmi is also into painting, drawing and other art forms”, he added.
Rashmi does not want to follow her parent’s footsteps but has decided to become an engineer. “We do not know which branch of engineering she wants to pursue but that will crystallise at a later stage”, said her father.
K. Kiran of Marimallappa’s High School was a regular at studies and was never under parental pressure to excel. A resident of Vidyaranyapura in the city, Kiran is the son of Kempa Nanjappa, an employee of Falcon Tyres while his mother is a homemaker. “I studied for an average of 2 hours and attended tuitions but ensured that daily portions were covered”, he said. Besides academics, Kiran is into cricket and spends a lot of time watching space videos. “My immediate objective is to enrol for science course in the same institution (Marimallappa’s College) and take up mechanical engineering after PUC”, said Kiran who scored 617 out of 625.Anagha Ravishankar of Sadvidya High School, who secured 619, is highly focussed and was confident of securing above 615 marks. She is the daughter of G.K. Ravishankar, General Manager in Meritor, and Chandrika, a technical staff at the National Institute of Engineering.
Besides her studies to which she would devote nearly 4 hours per day, Anagha was into tennis and passed drawing senior exam and music juniors though she discontinued them after her 10th standard classes began. “I will take up either electronic engineering or do M.Sc. in mathematics”, she said. Though I attended tuitions I was under no pressure and my objective was to master the subject, added. Anagha.
