Naidu keen on running govt. from Vijayawada

May 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Cabinet has resolved to carry out administration from Andhra Pradesh from June 2 by shifting as many offices of heads of departments as possible.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who chaired the Cabinet meeting that went on from 10 a.m to 6 p.m on Tuesday, took several key decisions including directing the cabinet sub-committee on shifting HoDs to identify government and private buildings to start the process.

In the first phase, field level officers of key departments who gave their willingness to move to Vijayawada would be moved, said Ministers Atchannaidu and P. Pulla Rao, briefing media persons after the Cabinet meeting.

“We can’t stay in Hyderabad for long, and it’s time to manage things from our own State,” Mr. Naidu is believed to have said, and he himself would function from Vijayawada camp office for three days in a week. He also directed his Cabinet colleagues to set up their camp offices in the vicinity of his camp office to be nearer to people. A decision was also taken to lay the foundation for the capital city on one of the three auspicious dates - June 5, 6 and 8 - and construction would start from Vijaya Dasami.
