Polling today for Amul Dairy Board

Election for 13 members of Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union – popularly known as Amul Dairy is taking place today.

This is the last bastion of Congress among Gujarat’s dairy cooperative unions. BJP is trying its best to capture this Congress run body.

Congress has won Thasra seat while BJP has won Matar seat. Congress has also won another seat as its candidate has entered as representative of Kheda Jilla Madhyasth Sahkari Bank. Polling is therefore taking place for 10 seats (25 candidates) and 1 individual seat( 2 candidates) through 11 polling stations.

It is for the first time that polling is taking place through block method.

2 DySP, 3 Police Inspectors, 14 Police sub Inspectors, 90 cops, 7 women cops are deployed for peaceful polling.

– Amul Chairman and Congress MLA Ramsinh Parmar had organized a meeting of MLAs of two districts to discuss the elections.

– Though the election is taking place without banner of political parties, BJP panel has been named as Parivartan panel while Congress panel has been named as Vikas panel.

– As both sides are trying their best to ensure victory, the voters had best time. They were taken to visits to religious and tourist places for free so that opposite side can not contact them during campaign. It is believed that such voters were brought back to Kheda for polling directly from free tour.
