At least 18 persons were injured from a blast in local train in Titagarh in North 24 Parganas District, about 25 kilometres north of Kolkata. The incident took place at around 4 a.m.

According to initial reports, the blast is a result of “a gang war.”

A senior railway official said that while it is not clear if miscreants were carrying bombs in the train, there is prima facie evidence that it is a “result of gang war.”

Hospital sources said that at least five persons are critically injured, in serious conditions.
