Jayalalithaa, who has roots in Mysuru -she was born at Melkote in Mandya and did her schooling here -had visited the temple ahead of the TN assembly polls in 2011.
Following her acquittal in the disproportionate assets case, the former CM is expected to visit the temple soon.
A district official said there are indications she could visit the temple this week and offer special prayers. Cops have been put on alert, he said, adding there's been no official communication yet.
The 67-year-old has visited the temple thrice as CM, but has not come here since her party swept to power in 2011.She visited the temple as CM for the first time in 1991, again in September 2003 after she became CM for the second time, and in December 2004. Three months ahead of the assembly polls, she offered special prayers here on her birthday, February 24, 2011. Temple priests said Jayalalithaa has offered prayers here whenever she's faced hurdles.
