Defence, GMR stall MMTS II

Additional funds of Rs 50 crore are required to complete the project

Hyderabad: During a review meeting of the Railway projects that was held by Union minister of state for labour Bandaru Dattatreya, it was pointed out that two issues were delaying MMTS Phase II works: The land dispute with the defence authorities in the case of a 4-km stretch on the Sanathnagar-Ammuguda line; and the matter of extending the Falaknuma-Umdanagar line to the airport... something the GMR authorities did not agree to.

The review of the railway projects and development works along with MMTS Phase II, road-over-bridges, road-under-bridges, Peddapally-Karimnagar-Nizamabad project were held with the South Central Railway general manager P.K. Srivatsava on Monday.

Officials said that barring the two major issues, the works on the Cherlapally-Ghatkesar and the Bollarum-Medchal stretches of MMTS Phase-II are progressing well.

Also the Peddapally-Karimnagar-Nizamabad project is progressing well and is likely to be completed by March 2016. Additional funds of Rs 50 crore are required to complete the project and the Railway minister would be requested for the same.
