Laxmi on 1,000-km trip to check mates

Laxmi the elephant is on her way in a truck from Amravati to Amberi, Sindhudurg to give company to elephants Bhim, 40, and Samarth, 30, who are being trained there with the Karnataka forest dept’s help.

It took two days for a 15-member team to convince Laxmi to board the truck.

The team includes a vet, mahut, forest officials and guards who are carrying Laxmi’s food, a water tanker and a grass cutter
