PM pays tributes to former Vajpayee Govt, scientists for 1998 Pokharan tests

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to scientists and the political leadership behind the success of Pokharan Nuclear Tests this day (May 11) in 1998, describing it a very special day in the country's history. ''We salute efforts of our scientists and political leadership behind the success of Pokhran Tests on this day in 1998. May 11 is a very special day in India's history,'' the Prime Minister said. On this day in 1998, India conducted nuclear tests in Pokharan, Rajasthan. Mr Modi said when the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had announced the success of the tests, the entire nation rejoiced. India once again conducted nuclear tests on May 13. ''The tests were possible due to the stellar work of our scientists. They were a victory of technology,'' the Prime Minister said.
