Jyoti Vishnoi from Saraswati Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, stood first in Class 12 MP board examinations. Hailing from a small town called Harda, she scored 97.6 percent. Ankit Chouhan of Sehore district came to a close second with 97.2 percent.

As if reinforcing recent trends, the girls outperformed boys this year as well. The overall pass percentage of girls was 69.42 percent compared to 63.3 percent among the boys.

The provisionary merit list issued by the MPBOSE states that as many as 61 girls topped the Class 12 results in Science-Maths, Science-Biology, Commerce and Fine-Arts streams.

Students of Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior made it to the top 10 in the Science-Maths and Science-Biology group merit list. Students of Shajapur district dominated the humanities stream with five out of 15 students making it to the merit list. Indore remained out of the race, though.

The Class 12 results of private students declined by more than three percent whereas regular students gave a better performance with a marginal increase of 0.06 percent. This reiterated the performance of government schools that performed better than private schools with a pass percentage of 66.73 percent.

The total number of regular and private students who appeared for Class 12 exams this year was 7,52,596. Out of this, result for 7,50,270 students were declared. As many as 1,328 regular students and 968 private students will have to wait for their results to be announced.

Around 1,97,807 students are expected to receive first division marks in Class 12. The final merit list will be declared after three months.
