In disaster preparedness, the simplest measures are most effective

I experienced the events of March 11, 2011, in Miyagi Prefecture's coastal city of Tagajo, my home.

     One third of Tagajo was inundated by the tsunami. 188 people lost their lives within the city limits. The tsunami reached to within 100 meters of my house. At the time, the whole world knew this. Since communications and electricity was down in my area, I did not.
