M.S. Valiathan, National Research Professor released the book ‘Legends of Travancore - A Numismatic Heritage ’, authored by Joseph Thomas, a urologist in Kasturba Medical College (KMC) at a function in Manipal University here on Friday. It is the 42nd book published by the Manipal University Press (MUP) in the last 42 months.

As the title suggests, the book is about the history of Travancore through coins. Though lifeless, coins tell the history of vanished empires, rise and fall of kingdoms, celebrated events and monarchs of yester years, said Dr. Valiathan.

“Next week, a book on Talat Mahmood will be released by L. K. Advani and Ameen Sayani in Mumbai,” H. Vinod Bhat, Pro Vice Chancellor of Manipal University, said.

Neeta Inamdar, Director of the Department of European Studies, Manipal University, welcomed the gathering.
