Seminar on mangrove conservation

: A seminar on ‘Mangrove conservation in Kerala’ will be held here on May 11 by the Social Forestry wing of the Forest Department in collaboration with various agencies.

The seminar will be held at the Shikshak Sadan here from 10 a.m. in collaboration with the Malabar Natural History Society (MNHS), Society for Environmental Education in Kerala (SEEK) and the Koodu Nature Society. The seminar will have different sessions, including mangrove afforestation programme in the State, mangrove biodiversity, integrated paddy-shrimp farming in mangrove areas and legal aspects of mangrove conservation, the organisers said. The seminar will be inaugurated by District Collector P. Bala Kiran. — Special Correspondent
