Man booked for raping nephew’s wife

SURAT: A 22-year-old woman was raped by her uncle on Monday in Sachin GIDC area in absence of the woman’s husband and escaped. The husband returned to home on Thursday after which he approached police and lodged a complaint in Sachin GIDC police station.
Police booked Janardan Yadav, 50, for allegedly raping wife of his nephew. Yadav, a labour and resident of Uttar Pradesh, lost job five months ago and he sought help of his nephew.The survivor’s husband offered shelter to his uncle at his residence till the time he finds another place to live.
Meanwhile, the husband, a labour in industry, went to Uttar Pradesh in funeral of a close relative on April 3 and was supposed to return in three to four days. The survivor and her infant child were at home with the accused. Taking advantage of lonely survivor the accused raped her. The woman was threatened by the accused of dire consequences and due to fear of disgraceful situation of family she kept quiet. After raping the woman the accused escaped from the home with his luggage.
The woman informed her husband when he returned on Wednesday. The husband supported the survivor and approached police. The couple got married two and half year ago and came to the city in search of employment.
