Truck driver dies, 20 injured in accident

A 23-year-old lorry driver was killed while 23 people sustained injuries when a speeding KSRTC bus collided head on with the lorry at Rajanukunte, near Doddaballapur, on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Anand from Mulbagal in Kolar district. The injured, including the bus driver and conductor, and passengers, were taken to hospitals in Rajanukunte and Doddaballapur. The injured are said to be residents of Kolar, Doddaballapur, Yelahanka and Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh.

The accident occurred around 11.30 a.m. on Doddaballapur–Yelahanka road when the bus, heading from Bengaluru to Hindupur, collided with the lorry truck laden with concrete blocks while trying to overtake another vehicle.

Movement of traffic on the route was affected for more than three hours.
