EDEKA Nord victorious twice

On Thursday, April 23, the winners of the "German Fruit Prize 2015" were honoured in the House of Culture in Baden-Baden. The FrauEn E center in Itzehoe in Itzehoe and EDEKA Niemerszein were awarded as the best fruit and vegetable departments of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg.

The family business FrauEn has the motto "It doesn’t work without women," which was demonstrated by the victory of the E Center in Itzehoe as "State winner of Schleswig-Holstein." 14 employees cover an area of 200 square meters, the fruit and vegetable department. Together they advise customers daily in all matters related to the subject of nutrition. Transparency, several sampling campaigns and gourmet evenings, as well as the salad bar convinced the customer. EDEKA Niemerszein at 110 Lange Reihe in Hamburg was honoured as "State winner of Hamburg". The 180 square meter modern fruit and vegetable section convinced with freshness, diversity and excellence. The range contains approximately 350 different fruit and vegetable products, 40% of which are regionally sourced. Exotic and a wide range of organic products complete the selection, to facilitate the demanding clientèle who love choice. The team consists of eight members and advises clients with their extensive expertise. For 19 years the prominent award "German Fruit Prize" of the Rundschau is awarded to the supermarkets and other fruit traders. Checked are, among other things, the product range and depth, the freshness of the products, the presentation of the department, the quality of advice, suitable information, actions and POS marketing, inventiveness and creativity, cleanliness and hygiene. A professional jury analyses these criterias in several, unannounced store checks. This way the actual performance is tested in daily operations.

More than 200 fruit and vegetables departments in German annually participate in the competition. The award gets great response through the entire branch. The German Fruit Prize promotes value for money combined with freshness and quality and the winners get the title "Germany's best fruit and vegetable department" in their respective categories.
