Many students from rural areas have emerged district toppers in the Plus Two examinations, the results of which were announced on Thursday.

The three district toppers, who chose Tamil as their first language are: J.M. Dravidan (1,184) of Sri Krishna Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Oddanchatram; A. Yugathi Mariya (1,183) of NSVV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pattiveeranpatti; and X. Naveen Prabhakar (1,180) of Sri Krishna MHSS, Oddanchatram.

While the first and third rankers want to become doctors, the second rank holder of the commerce stream, wants to become a judge. While Dravidan, a native of Palani, was a day scholar, Naveen stayed in the school hostel. Maria says her Principal used to encourage them by giving gifts to meritorious students.

Commerce students emerged top scorers in the district, breaking the domination of science students. The three top scorers, irrespective of their first language are: K.N. Kannappan (1,189) and N. Miruthu Bashini (1,185) of SMBM Matriculation HSS, Dindigul; and J.M. Dravidan (1,184) of Sri Krishna MHSS, Oddanchatram.

Miruthu Bashini says she prepared meticulously for even class tests and knew answers to all questions. She owes her success to her class teacher Amudhavalli. Kannappan is also all praise for his class teacher Rajini. The first and second district toppers want to become auditors.
