The ‘C’ and ‘D’ group employees of the Bagalkot Zilla Panchayat will be getting new residential quarters soon.

State government has given a go-ahead for the construction of these quarters, the funds for which have also been allocated.

After accepting the proposal submitted by the planning committee of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR), the government agreed to build employee quarters. The employees are currently residing in PWD quarters as they do not have separate quarters.

According to sources, in the first phase, the government has granted Rs. 68 lakh, while the total project is estimated at Rs. 1.16 crore. The foundation stone for the project is expected to be laid within a fortnight.

The plan has been made to construct three-storey building in 80X100 sq/ft area near the quarters of Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Secretary.

The sources said that nearly 50 ‘C’ and ‘D’ group employees including drivers who are serving in the ZP are expected to get the benefit under the project which would be extended in phased-manner.

Nirmiti Kendra has been entrusted with fulfilment of the project within a year.
