Marist nets play-in victory against Bryant

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Marist (14-3, 6-0 MAAC) won its first NCAA tournament game in program history on Wednesday. Playing before a record crowd of 1,873 at Tenney Stadium, the No. 19 Red Foxes defeated Bryant 10-6 in an NCAA play-in game.

Freshman Gannon Morrison led Marist with four points on two goals and two assists and senior Dave Scarcello made 14 saves.

Marist led the entire contest beginning with senior Patrick Eaker's first goal of the season and fourth of his career 16 seconds into the game. Morrison began the second qaurter with the Red Foxes' 27th man up goal to make it 6-2.

After the Bulldogs scored to open the second half, junior Joseph Radin answered with his 50th goal of the season at the 6:56 mark to give the Red Foxes' their largest lead of five scores.

Bryant cut into the Marist lead, twice cutting its deficit to three, but had 19 turnovers in the game. The Red Foxes went 2-for-3 with the extra man and held the Bulldogs to an 0-for-5 mark. 

The Red Foxes will advance to face second-seeded Syracuse in the first round of the tournament at 7:30 p.m. May 10. The contest will take place in the Carrier Dome.
