BHOPAL: A day after passengers roughed up a pantry staff of Shatabdi Express over alleged stale food, air-conditioning broke down in the New Delhi-bound train on Wednesday, causing uproar among passengers.
According to information, on Wednesday, AC of 12001 Habibganj-New Delhi Shatabdi Express broke down near Vidisha where passengers pulled chain. Thereafter, a technical team repaired it but the broke down again twice at Bina and Lalitpur stations.

Sangeeta Joshi, a lawyer travelling in C8 coach, said that complaint for the AC had also been lodged with the train superintendent.
Meanwhile, GRP is unlikely to register an FIR for roughing up of pantry staff. GRP police station TI DK Joshi said, “Prima facie it appears that no injury was caused to Devraj Yadav (pantry staff). Only his clothes were torn.”
Last year, seven instances of food-related complaints in Shatabdi were lodged where stale food or food with worms in it was served to passengers.
On July 17, 2014, passengers raised a stink when stale breakfast was served instead of lunch on Bhopal Shatabdi. The passengers had complained to station master and divisional railway manager (DRM) against the caterer.
Prior to that, worms were found in rice served to a woman passenger, Surbhi Saxena, on May 12, 2014.
