In a meeting held late on Tuesday night, the FWICE (Federation Of Western India Cine Employees) reached an agreement after the union members decided to call off the strike that was supposed to start from May 6.
Kamlesh Pandey , FWICE president, said, “There was a meeting that was held on Tuesday night and we decided to call off the strike after the producers agreed to our demands. We have decided to set up a committee that will comprise producers and our members that will look into the clauses of the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) and we will work out solutions to issues like working hours for technicians, safety norms and the issue of payments.

“ Kamlesh said that they have set a deadline of June 20 by which they will finalize the MoU.
“The producers have also agreed to the wage hike and we have reached a compromise. In the first year, the producers will be giving a 13% hike, which will be followed by an 11% hike for the next three years and a 12% hike in the fifth year. More over, one of the issues that has been resolved is that of delayed payments. Our workers usually get their dues after the producers receive their payments from the channel. This was causing delays in the payments and sometimes they would receive the payments delayed by as much as a year. But now the producers have said that they will pay the workers within a month's time irrespective of them getting the payments from the broadcasters,“ he added.
