Kaltura Offers Personalized Recommendations With Iris Partnership

Article Featured Image

Clients of online video platform Kaltura have a new option for keeping viewers watching for longer. Kalura now offers a plug-in from video recommendations company Iris.TV that presents a post-video screen showing thumbnails for several videos that the viewer might like. Those selections are chosen by Iris.TV automatically and are based on that viewer's video consumption history and engagement. The viewer can either select a video or one will be chosen for them by Iris.TV.

Recommendations come exclusively from the publisher's video library, so viewers aren't sent to other publishers' videos. Publishers pay a monthly fee to Iris.TV to use the plug-in. The fee paid is based on the amount of traffic sent through the recommendations screen.

Due to the rise in non-linear programming, personalized video is in high demand, notes Zohar Babin, managing director for platform, ecosystem, and community at Kaltura.

“Personalized content programming is the most cost-effective way to increase the value of your audience and video library. In order to grow video views and thrive in a multi-channel universe, media companies need to engage their audience on a one-to-one level,” says Field Garthwaite, co-founder and CEO of IRIS.TV. “In conjunction with Kaltura, we are excited to offer a variety of products that increase video views and help publishers engage and retain their audiences.”
