A bench warrant for the arrest of former Minnesota guard Daquein McNeil was issued after McNeil failed to appear for a court proceeding last week.

McNeil faces two felony charges after allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend last November. McNeil was accused of choking the woman, who was 28 at the time, and whipping her with his belt.

The incident occurred the morning that the Gophers were set to travel to New York for the Preseason NIT. McNeil was suspended from the team and eventually dismissed after he failed to enroll in classes for the spring semester.

McNeil’s current whereabouts are unknown, and his file failed to list a defense attorney for him as the lawyer that was initially assigned to the case has since withdrawn. According to a report from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, “he was released on $75,000 bail without conditions, meaning that he didn’t have to check in with probation officers.”
