What is Qwikipedia? Ever been on Wikipedia to look up an article? More often than not, we start with one topic, click a few links and within no time are reading about something else.

Qwikipedia is a game that tries to quench this curiosity in us. The objective is to get to a particular Wiki page, starting from a specific article, using minimal clicks. There is no single correct answer, so we might surprise ourselves by finding new routes each time!

Fin whale

  Fin whales are the second largest living mammals after blue whales. The fin whale is an aquatic species that is found in oceans in many parts of the world. They stand at the top of the food chain. These whales that are threatened by commercial whaling, other than environmental factors are said to be endangered. Experts are still studying the migration patterns of these whales. For instance, there have been sightings near Hawaii in the United States in May as well as during winters.

United States

  The United States of America comprises of 50 states, each with its unique culture and heritage. Washington D.C. is the country’s capital. It is one the largest countries in terms of land area.

The population of United States almost quadrupled during the 20th Century since 1900. The country is home to a diverse population, including Asians, Indians, and Latin Americans among others.

Latin America

  Latin America is generally understood to consist of the entire continent of South America in addition to Mexico, and the islands of the Caribbean whose inhabitants speak Spanish or Portuguese or also French. This includes countries like Argentina, Venezuela, Peru among several others. Owing to its diverse history and landscape, Latin America is a confluence of cultures, and is also known for its literature. One of the most well-known literary figures from that part of the world is perhaps the Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez Gabriel Garcia Marquez is one of the pre-eminent writers of a genre called magical realism. He was a Colombian novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter and a journalist .

He was also a major figure in the Latin American literature boom. Marquez was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982 and some of his most famous books include ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’ and ‘Autumn of the Patriach’. On his death in April 2014 the President of Colombia, called him “the greatest Colombian who ever lived”. His works continue to resonate even today.
