The prosecution's case is that the CBI had registered a case on the orders dated April, 23, 2010 of Madras High Court. It was alleged that on July 9, 2009, accused Dhanasekharan and Semon along with few other accused were being escorted from Central Prison, Puzhal to a judicial magistrate court, Thiruthani for extension of police remand.
Dhanasekharan and Semon were involved in the murder of Muniammal, mother of Murugan on September 5, 2008. The CBI’s case is that Muru-gan was waiting for an opportunity to take revenge on the killers of his mother. He suddenly opened fire from his service rifle at Dhanasekharan and Semon when the police vehicle carrying them was on the move, kill-ing Dhanasekharan instantly and injuring Semon.
After completion of investigation, CBI filed a charge sheet against Muru-gan under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempted murder) of the Indian Penal Code and section 27 (punishment for possessing arms) of the Arms Act in March 2011.
