CHANDIGARH: An interaction was organized with veteran officers based in the Tricity at Manekshaw Auditorium, Chandimandir, by Western Command authorities.
Lt Gen K J Singh, general officer commanding-in-chief (GOC-in-C), Western Command, lauded the commitment of Dharma Chakra Command to keep the interest of veterans, veer naris and widows supreme. The aim of the event was to provide a concerted push for expeditious mitigation of myriad issues being faced by veteran community post-retirement.
The veterans were made aware of various policies/schemes launched by the ministry of defence and governments of UT, Punjab and Haryana for their welfare.
A total of 400 serving and veterans officers attended the event. Senior veterans of 75 years and above were presented mementos on the occasion. A similar interaction with veteran junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and others ranks would be held on May 11. Prominent among those who attended this meet included former army chief General V P Malik and former Punjab governor Lt Gen B K N Chhibber among others.
