Farook College, Feroke, and St. Joseph’ College, Devagiri, were locked in a neck-and-neck fight as stage events peaked on Tuesday, the penultimate day of the Inter-zone Arts Festival of the University of Calicut. Both the colleges vied for the first place with 94 points each. Victoria College, Palakkad, was in the next position with 67 points.
Fathahu Rahman from Farook College was crowned Sargaprathibha while Bibin Antony from St. Jospeh’s College was adjudged Chithraprathibha.
The St. Joseph’s College team comprising Ijasul Haq, Joel Oommen, and P. Aparna Chand won the first prize in quiz. They pushed the Farook College team comprising Hilal Ahamed, Shameen Abdul Khader, and K.C. Mohammed Jaser to the second place. Amrutha E.H. from Government Arts and Science College, Tanur, won the first prize in watercolour painting.
In English elocution, Anand Jayan from Government Victoria College, Palakkad, won the first prize. In collage, Ditto Wilson from St. Thomas College, Thrissur, came first. Bibin Antony from St. Joseph’s College, Devagiri, won the first prizes in cartoon, pencil drawing, clay modelling and poster making. In debate, Sweta T.P. and Divya Rajeev from the same college won the first prize.
Farook College’s Fathahu Rahman won the first prizes in Urdu story writing, Urdu essay writing, Arabic essay writing, Arabic story writing, Arabic versification, and Urdu versification.
