The annual turnover of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) has reached Rs 200 crore from merely Rs 16 lakh ever since it was headed by Anurag Thakur.
This was stated by Narender Attri former state president of BJYM and executive member of the HPCA in a press release issued here today. He said the Congress leadership wanted to grab the control of the HPCA and hence was making false allegations against the leaders of the Opposition and the HPCA.
He said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh did not comment on the HPCA issue in the Vidhan Sabha saying that the matter was sub-judice, but he kept commenting on the issue in public meetings.
He said the CM was diverting the attention of the public from the main issues of development, unemployment, corruption and financial health of the state by speaking on issues like HPCA. He said it was the vision of Anurag Thakur that the state had four good quality cricket stadiums, including one at Dharamsala, Una, Bilaspur and Nadaun.
Attri said the new Sports Bill was brought to snatch the control of the HPCA from the present executive body, adding that many sports bodies had opposed the new Sports Bill. He said sportspersons would not tolerate any undemocratic move of the government to grab sports bodies in the state.
