Rao Anwar to pursue case against Altaf Hussain

Karachi: Former SSP Rao Anwar has filed an application in Malir Cantt Police Station today seeking registration of a case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chairman Altaf Hussain for allegedly threatening him.

Rao Anwar stated that Altaf Hussain, while addressing his supporters, has threatened to “blow him up with a canon.”

According to sources, a decision on the complaint will be taken by top police officials.

Last week, Anwar’s convoy came under attack in the Malir area of Karachi. Suspected terrorists belonging to TTP hurled hand grenades and opened fire on the police vehicles.

No policeman was injured in the incident whereas five attackers were killed in retaliatory fire.

On Thursday, IG Sindh suspended Rao Anwar hours after he had alleged in a press briefing that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) maintains connections with India’s spy agency RAW.

SP East Peer Muhammad Shah was given additional charge of District Malir.
