JAMMU, May 4: A 20-year-old youth died today of drowning in Tawi River near Sidhra Bridge.
According to a police spokesperson, the youth who has been identified as Faizal Abbaaz son of Gulam Hussain, a resident of Turtuk (Nobra), district Leh (at present near Gulshan Ground), along with his four other friends had gone to take a bath in Tawi river under Sidhra Bridge when he was swept away.
After severe efforts his companions managed to retrieve him from the river and shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting postmortem and other legal formalities. The concerned police has also taken cognizance of the matter.
