Delhi cop run over by truck in Ghaziabad

A 28-year-old sub-inspector of Delhi Police died on Sunday night after he was run over by a truck on Meerut Road while he was returning home. He was accompanied by a friend, who sustained minor injuries in the accident.

GHAZIABAD: A 28-year-old sub-inspector of Delhi Police died on Sunday night after he was run over by a truck on Meerut Road while he was returning home. He was accompanied by a friend, who sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The deceased, Shiv Kumar Singh, was a sub-inspector at Krishna Nagar police station in Delhi. He was returning home to Sibbanpura in Ghaziabad from Muradnagar, along with a friend, Manoj, a post office clerk, on a motorcycle.

According to police, the accident took place around 1am. The truck driver, Sarin, from Meerut, was arrested on Monday. An FIR has been lodged at the Sihani Gate police station under Section 304A (causing death by negligence), following a complaint by Kumar’s brother, Amit.
In another accident, a 22-year-old man on a motorcycle was crushed to death by a truck on the NH-24. The deceased, Monu, was a resident of Garhi Chaukhandi village in GB Nagar district. Police said Monu was driving from Hapur towards Noida when a Haryana-registered truck going to Meerut ran over him.
