PTI jubilant over Rafique’s disqualification

Lahore: Leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has shown ecstasy over the Election Tribunal’s verdict of disqualifying Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N’s) leader Saad Rafique in NA-125 today.

In a statement, PTI leader Asad Umar congratulated Hamid Khan, who contested against Saad Rafique in NA-125, over the decision of ET and said that it’s a huge decision as the seat is not a regular one.

He said that Saad Rafique always denied election rigging, but now ET has proven that organized rigging took place in NA-125.

Asad Umar added that his party is still waiting for the results of two more constituencies.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chairman of PTI Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that this is just a beginning of victories for every Pakistani but the government would surely be shocked over this verdict.

He expressed happiness and felicitated Hamid Khan for his efforts of unveiling election rigging and assured of providing more rigging evidence to the Judicial Commission.

On the other hand, PTI Chief Imran Khan’s wife, Reham Khan, while mocking the Railway Minister Saad Rafique said that the ‘Train has derailed’.

She said that no one can stop the revolution as PTI is ardent in proving election rigging. She further hoped to get a fair chance to compete in transparent election once again.

Earlier, the election tribunal disqualified Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique, after irregularities were confirmed in NA-125 polls that were held in the constituency in the May 2013 general elections. In its verdict, the tribunal declared NA-125 results null and void and ordered for conduct of re-polls in the constituency within next sixty days.

It may be mentioned here that PTI candidate Hamid Khan had challenged the victory of PML-N’s Saad Rafiq alleging that he rigged NA-125 polls.

Meanwhile, Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that the decision to challenge the election tribunal`s decision in the Supreme Court will be taken after consultation with party leadership.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stated that schedule of by-election on the seat will be announced after notification regarding Saad Rafique`s disqualification is issued.

Polling would take place within two months, the ECP added.
