Russian mission appeals to UN countries to recognize Karabakh parliamentary elections

STEPANAKERT, 4 MAY, ARMENPRESS. The Russian delegation, which carried out observation mission during NKR Parliamentary elections, appealed to the international organizations and UN member states to take steps to recognize NKR elections in accordance with the international standards. As the correspondent of Armenpress reports, on 4 May, the Director of the Russian observer mission of Russian State Duma, MP of "Yabloko" faction Victor Sheinis made this statement during a meeting held in press center of the NKR Central Electoral Commission.
“NKR parliamentary elections were held on high level, in accordance with the international standards, they were open and transparent. We visited several tens of polling stations in all regions of NKR and we should state that the implementation of the observer mission was not impeded. We were able to freely visit any polling station, we got acquainted with the documents and records. Our work was not hindered during the counting of votes. The elections were held in compliance with all the provisions of the amended Electoral Code of NKR which entered into force this year,” - Sheinis read the report.
Russian MP emphasized that there were insignificant deficiencies in some places, but they were more technical problems and didn’t have any effect on the actual process and the results.
