TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rain and strong winds on the area of East Manggarai District in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), damaged dozens of rice fields owned by local farmers. In addition, the bad weather condition is predicted to cause a landslide.
Tini Thadeus, Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in NTT said that high intensity of rain continues to occur in the western part of NTT, causing floods and landslides in the island of Flores.
Floods occurred in North Golo Wangkung village, East Manggarai, because of the overflowing Rempang Wae River. The floods have caused damages to rice fields on irrigation canals.
"There has not been any official report given to us, so the disaster is currently being handled by the local government," said Tini.
