LUDHIANA: More than three weeks ahead of their Swaraj Samwad to be held in Ludhiana, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Prashant Bhushan held a rally in the city on Sunday and hinted at floating a political party in the times to come.
Bhushan, who reached the city on Sunday morning, attacked the AAP and alleged that the party had lost its ideals and VIP culture was rampant in the party now.
"The purpose with which the party was formed stand defeated as leaders are towing a different path altogether," he said and added that people's expectations have been trashed by the party. He said that despite being exposed of having a fake degree, Delhi law minister Jatinder Singh Tomar has not been expelled. He said this was not a first off instance and things like this were emerging on a daily basis.
Talking about the convention titled Swaraj Samwad, he said that it was aimed at creating awareness amongst the masses and motivate disgruntled AAP workers. The convention would be held on May 24 and leaders, including Yogender Yadav, would attend the event to give a thrust to the movement, he said.
On being asked about plans of creating a new party, Bhushan said they were presently focussing on creating awareness and making more and more people join their Swaraj Abhiyan. Once that was done, they might form a party. "We will do so only if we feel we have become strong enough for the purpose," he said, adding, "We are not in a hurry and our main purpose is to have more and more people's support."
