AHMEDABAD: Ahmedabad's young and promising tennis player
Megh Patel is on a roll these days and the same was seen in his results he produced in Ahmedabad. The tennis ace swept boys' under-16 category in AITA National Series tennis tournament that was held at
Ahmedabad City Tennis Foundation courts recently.
First up, Megh toppled Maharashtra's Siddhanth Banthia 6-3, 6-1 to win the boys' singles crown.
Later, he joined hands with Chandigarh's Sagar Bains to overcome the challenge from Siddhanth and Karnataka's
Adil Kalyampur 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 to win the boys doubles crown as well.
Meanwhile, it was a day of mixed luck for
Dev Javia and
Vaidehi Chaudhary.
Dev put up a brave fight before losing the boys' under-14 singles crown 1-6, 6-4, 5-7 to Delhi's Vipul Mehta.
But Dev has something to cheer about as he and Telengana's Rithvik Choudhary won the doubles crown against Gujarat's Aaryan Zaveri and Mann Shah 6-0, 4-6, 10-8.
Vaidehi, too, had a similar run as she lost the girls' under-16 singles final 5-7, 3-6 to Delhi's Sabhyata Nihlani.
However, she joined hands with Maharashtra's Shivani Ingle to get the better off Gujarat's Akanksha Bhan and Sabhyata 6-4, 6-2 to win the doubles crown.
