Duronto derailment, traffic restored on Monday

Train services on Konkan Railway route, which were disrupted following derailment of 10 coaches of Train no. 12223 LTT-Ernakulam Duronto Express South of Madgaon, near Balli station on Sunday, have been restored at 2.05 am on Monday.

MANGALURU: Train services on Konkan Railway route, which were disrupted following derailment of 10 coaches of Train no. 12223 LTT-Ernakulam Duronto Express South of Madgaon, near Balli station on Sunday, have been restored at 2.05 am on Monday.
The 10 derailed coaches were re-railed at 11.10pm on Sunday followed by clearance of the track and the Track Fit Certificate was given at 2.05am. A light engine will be passed through the affected site first.

The restoration was made possible due to all out efforts put in by the Officers and Staff of KRCL on a war footing under the guidance of Bhanu Prakash Tayal, CMD, KRCL, who was monitoring the restoration work, stated Konkan Railway.
Duronto Express passengers were taken to their destination by a special train which left Karwar station for Ernakulam. Konkan Railway had made special catering arrangements and sent its officers on the train in a special gesture.
Konkan Railway sent five buses to ferry passengers to the station. They paid Rs 2.56 lakh in refund to the passengers who didn't wish to continue their journey by train.
