Derailment hits rail services

Rail services were affected in the State following the derailment of 10 coaches of Train 12223 Lokmanya Tilak-Ernakulam Duronto Express on Sunday morning near Sarzora Tunnel between Madgoan and Balli railway stations in Karwar region of Konkan Railway. No casualties were reported. Train 12015 Madgaon- Ernakulam Express, which was scheduled to leave Madgaon at 9.30 p.m. on Sunday and Train 10216 Ernakualm Junction–Madgaon Express on Monday have been cancelled.

Train 56640 Mangalore Central–Madgaon Passenger was cancelled on Saturday.

Railways have diverted some trains running on the Konkan Railway via Londa, Hubli, Hasan and Mangalore Junction stations. The trains diverted are Train16337 Okha-Ernakulam Express scheduled to reach Ernakulam at 10.20 p.m., Train 02065 Mumbai CST- Ernakulam Premium Special scheduled to reach Ernakulam at 3 a.m. on Monday, and Train 22634 Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Central Weekly superfast Express scheduled to reach Thiruvananthapuram at 2.30 a.m. on Monday. The other diverted trains are 11097 Pune-Ernakulam Express and 16312 Kochuveli–Bikaner Express that left Kochuveli at 3.35 p.m. on Saturday.
