KEO demand on EPF contributions

May 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - KANNUR:

The Keltron Employees’ Organisation (KEO) has demanded that Keltron Component Complex Ltd. (KCCL) restore the 12 per cent Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions of both employee and employer.

The KEO in a representation to the EPF Sub Regional Office here called on the EPF authorities to pass orders to the KCCL to restore the 12 per cent rate of EPF contribution which was reduced to 10 per cent from 2005.

The representation said the KCCL had reduced the contributions of employee and employer from 12 per cent to 10 per cent on the ground that the company was referred to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR).

The KEO said that the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation, KCCL’s holding company, and Keltron Electro Ceramics Ltd., Kuttippuram, one of its subsidiaries, had contributed 12 per cent to the EPF when both these companies were under BIFR purview.

The KEO also said though the KCCL had come out of the BIFR fold in March 2014, the EPF share of both the employer and employee still remained at 10 per cent. The KEO also said that the management had not responded to its written representation.
