Vadodara BJP corporator who attacked party leaders suspended

The party release stated, “The state president of the BJP, R C Faldu has suspended Rajesh Ayare from the party’s primary membership for masterminding the attack on the government event in Gotri as well as damaging the image of the party.”

Although BJP leaders are staying away from speculating about Ayare’s imminent arrest, but discussions about the Municipal Corporator from Ward 12 are dominating party meetings ever since his name emerged in the Gotri attack.

The Monday’s attack saw Cabinet Minister Saurabh Patel returning from the venue without completing the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the LIG housing event.

The Vadodara police have formed teams to track down Ayare in Maharashtra, where he is believed to be hiding after fleeing from the city on Wednesday, when named by accused Narayan Rajput alias Saddam in court, who was arrested under Section 307 of IPC for attempted murder.

While the police are confident of arresting the flamboyant BJP corporator, some party leaders are going through a nerve-racking time as Ayare’s impending arrests is likely to open a can of worms for the party that is witnessing intense factionalism ahead of the October civic polls.

A party leader said, “It is expected that Ayare, who will eventually have to surrender to avoid embarrassment, will reveal names of a couple of elected state representatives, who are suspected to have supported him in orchestrating the attack to pull down the rival faction. This will only lead to further complication in the issue and the party is trying its best to resolve the matter.”

On Friday, while Patel was in Vadodara for yet another event, party sources said the closed door meeting between leaders was dominated by speculations related to Ayare’s arrest.
