What happened?

Rewa kicked off their 2015 Vodafone Fijian FACT after upsetting All Freight Logistics Suva in 2-1 in the opening round of the tournament in Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

The capital city men got off to a good start drawing first blood in the 19th minute with a goal from Sakaraia Naisua.

Maciu Dunadamu could have extended the lead but shot wide.

Rewa struck back in the 42nd minute when Savenaca Nakalevu completed a pass from Amani Makoer.

Halftime: Rewa 1-1 All Freight Logistics Suva

Ronil Ram made an impressive debut as he took the Delta Tigers ahead in the 56th minute much to the home crowd’s delight.

The hosts vigorously defended, denying Suva any chance to score. Even Rusiate Matarerega’s attempt to get Suva back in the game was denied by stern defence.

Persistence paid off in the end as Rewa emerged the victorious in the end.

Fulltime: Rewa 2-1 All Freight Logistics Suva

Star turn: Ram did well on debut and gave his teammates the right inspiration to deny Suva a win.

Big  play: The Simione Tamanisau-skippered side thrived on their two goals and made good work of keeping Suva down until the final whistle.

Comments: Rewa coach Marika Rodu; “I think the absence of the four U20 players really motivated the players. I thank them.

“We waited for our opportunity to score and we did when Suva were disorganised.”

All Freight Logistics Suva head coach Gurjit Singh said; “All I can is that it was Rewa’s day. We’ve got two more games to go so there’s still time for us to get back in.”
