A woman today committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan at her home in Broda village. Rani, 32, reportedly took the extreme step when her three children were taken ill after having breakfast. The children — Ritu (9), Ankur (7) and Krishan (5) were admitted to PGIMS Rohtak and were reported to be serious.

The police said when her children started showing signs of food poisoning soon after consuming breakfast and tea, Rani informed her husband and called neighbours for help. The neighbourers took the children to the Primary Health Centre in the village and the doctors referred them to PGIMS Rohtak.

Already feeling guilty conscious, Rani reportedly committed suicide when she came to know about the serious condition of the children. She was alone in the house at that time. Rani’s brother, Jai Kumar suspected that a quarrel between Reena and her husband Suresh, who works at a brick kiln, could be the reason behind the incident.

The police have registered a case at the Baroda police station and sent the body to Civil Hospital, Gohana, for postmortem examination.

Baroda Station House Officer Kuldeep Deswal said the investigation was on and the report on food poisoning was awaited.
