Jind, May 3

Two months after the launch of “Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Drive” (ERPAD) in Jind to link Aadhaar number with electoral rolls, only 1.5 lakh persons have been interlinked till date while 7.29 lakh are still left.

Jind Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi has warned all officers of strict action if they failed to improve implementation sof the project in coming weeks.

On the directions of Election Commission of India, the Jind administration launched a project—- EPIC-Aadhar seeding—- under the ERPAD on March 3. With July 31 as deadline, the project aimed at controlling bogus and dual voting during the elections.

The administration has fixed May 3, 17 and 12 as special dates to intensify the campaign. There are 879 polling booths in all five Assembly constituencies—- Jind city, Julana, Uchana, Safidon and Narwana of the district. Each booth level officer (BLO) has been directed to visit each household under his respective jurisdiction and collect the Aadhaar number of residents.

After collecting the Aadhaar numbers, the BLO will submit the data to the district election office for uploading it on the electoral rolls management system.

“I have directed all BLOs and other senior officers to accelerate the pace of linking of Aadhaar with electoral rolls. It will control bogus voting. We are aiming to finish the project by the end of May,” said Jind DC Joshi.
