Summer coaching camps begin

Work hard and talent would certainly get recognition, Commissioner of Police Amit Garg told the boys who turned up for Essar-sponsored VDCA annual summer coaching camp at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on Saturday. The camp is in the hands of experienced coaches and the boys should make use of the camp, he said.

Vice-president of VDCA D.S. Varma presided. Secretary of VDCA K. Parthasaradhi said that around 1,000 boys in under-14 and under-16 age groups turned up for selection to the camp and 240 of them were picked up to undergo training. The camps will be held at the GVMC stadium, ACA-VDCA stadium B ground, Zinc stadium and Col. C.K. Nayudu Ukku stadium (Ukkunagaram) for the next one month. After the camps concluded, talented among the trainees would be short-listed for intensive training throughout the season, he added.

Secretary of ACA South Zone V. Uma Maheswara Rao said the association was spending a lot on identifying and nurturing young talent. ACA is running three Zonal Academies for different age groups, including one at Chintalavalasa near Vizianagaram.

Vice-president of VDCA T.S.R. Prasad, joint secretaries J.K.M. Raju and P. Bhogendra Babu, chief coach K. Chandrasekhara Rao were present.

To mark the inauguration of the camp, Mr. Garg played a few shots. He later interacted with some of the boys.

240 boys are picked up for training from 1,000 boys attended for selection.
