Maestro’s musical treat in Palayamkottai

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - TIRUNELVELI:

This is really good news for the diehard fans of ‘Maestro’ Ilaiyaraja from the southern districts as the unparalleled composer will be performing for the first time in Palayamkottai, along with his son and leading music director Yuvan Shankar Raja at Bell Grounds on May 9.

The concert, christened ‘U1 Musical Express,’ will be Yuvan’s fifth in his career. Singers Hari Charan, Ranjit, N.S.K. Ramya, Priyadharshini, Shwetha Pandit, Sathyan, Vasu, Rahul Nambiyar, Belli Raj, actor and singer Andrea will enthral the fans with the young music director’s recent hits.

Centre of attraction

“Though Mr. Yuvan, who has worked on over 100 films, will run the show, his father Ilaiyaraja, the only composer to have scored background music for over 1,000 movies, will be the centre of attraction for his fans,” says V. Mahesh, founder of Green Trees Solution, the event organising company.

Actors to appear

Actors Arya, Simbhu, Jai, Krishna, film units of ‘Mass,’ ‘Vai Raja Vai’ and ‘Chennai 600028’ that include Venkat Prabhu, Premji, Aishwarya Dhanush, directors Lingusamy and Vishnuvardhan will also appear on the dais after Yuvan’s entry, adds Mr. Mahesh.

Like the fans scrambling for IPL tickets, response for this show, especially among the youths here, has been really unprecedented, the organisers say.

As frequent ‘audio whistling’ marred the Maestro’s recent concert in Madurai, the organisers have specially roped in a team of audio experts from Bangalore, exclusively for this programme. “It will be a real treat to your ears this time,” guarantees Mr. Mahesh.
