‘Anna Bhagya not making beneficiaries lazy’

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - Bidar:

District in-charge Minister Umashree has denied the allegation that the government was making the poor lazy by giving them free food grains.

She was speaking after launching the free food grain scheme in Ladgeri in Bidar on Saturday. She also felt that such comments were in bad taste. “Most of the beneficiaries of the scheme are labourers and they are all hard working. They are not working because they are hungry. They will not stop working after their stomachs are full,” she said.

She urged the beneficiaries to spend the saving on food grains on educating their children. Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli, MLA, Deputy commissioner P.C. Jaffer and others were present.
